Movie night event slated at city pool

The municipal pool in Warren is getting Brave.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, movie night will return to the pool with a showing of Disney’s Brave.

Movie nights have become a popular summer event in Warren providing families the opportunity for entertainment, games, swimming and refreshments all in one location.

“Bring your family and a blanket or chair and have a fun filled evening at the municipal pool,” Cindy Strandburg, who manages the pool for the city, said.

While the movie starts at dusk, families don’t have to wait until the sun sets to start the evening.

Admission prices are reduced any time after 5 p.m. and movie-inspired games begin at 6 p.m. According to Strandburg, games include find the wisp and archery.

“All games are themed around the movie,” Strandburg noted.

Starting at 7 p.m., Marty’s Bubblegum Machine will provide DJing and entertainment. The event will also feature face painting and hot dogs will be on sale for $1. Popcorn will be available in time for the start of the movie.

Season pass holders will be admitted for free while both resident and non-resident admission prices are dependent on whether families arrive before or after discounted prices go into effect at 5 p.m.

The city will be awarding a 2014 family pool pass as a door prize.
