August is here already and the gardens are full of goodies. A few wonderful people are supplying the senior center with vegetables on a daily basis which are very much appreciated THANK YOU!

A luau luncheon will be served Aug. 19 so dust off your mumu’s and Hawaiian shirts and join the fun. Ham will be provided and seniors are asked to bring a dish to pass.

Do you have coverage along with your medicare card to pay your bills or prescriptions? Are you paying too much? Mary from the Area Agency on Aging will be at the center on Monday, Aug. 12, with some valuable information. The information is free and could save you many dollars. Plan on attending Aug. 12 at 11 am.

August brings our last picnic of the year at Rod & Gun Club on Bull Hill on Aug. 29. Corn, hot dogs and watermelon top off the menu along with a game of rip off after lunch. Don’t forget your wrapped gift you never know what you will end up with!

An old-fashioned Allegheny Community Center picnic will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 6 p.m. at Betts Park by the tennis courts. A fine picnic menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and 2 kinds of punch bowl cakes will be served. Live entertainment. Please call your reservations to 723-3237 anytime.

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather. Hot lunches or light alternative lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no reservation required. Take-outs available.

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers Aug. 12-16: hamburgers Monday; hot turkey sandwich Tuesday; ham and cheese sub Wednesday; taco salad Thursday; chef’s buffet Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
