The 6th Annual “Allegheny Picnic” Reunion celebrating the CCC 80th Anniversary will be held Friday, Aug. 23, in Warren. There will be a short ceremony at the Worker Statue at the Warren County Visitor Center in Starbrick at 10 a.m. Picnic luncheon to follow at Chapman State Park’s Pavilion 2.

Call in your reservations to 726-2774; ask for Ed. Good food and entertainment by Chapman Dam lake, guests of Tionesta Valley Snowmobile Club. Donations are welcome.

Club

Saturday, August 17 the Club will be having a bake sale and hot dog sale at Tops Market in Sheffield from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefits the Youth Pheasant Hunt.

3D Archery Shoots: Sunday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Sheffield Rod & Gun Club Registration is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults are $10 and kids 16 and under are free. Thirty-target course and novelty shoot. Food and drinks will be available. There is a drawing on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Club: first place is a Barnett Crossbow pkg. and second prize is $200 cash. Tickets can be purchased at the Rod & Gun Club. All proceeds benefit the archery program.

Saturday, Aug. 17 is the Club’s annual picnic, beginning at noon. Games, raffles, and food to enjoy. If you would like to bring a dish to pass and share this would be greatly appreciated. Please sign up at the Club.

Sunday, Sept. 1 is our Labor Day Chicken BBQ.

Many improvements have been done to the buildings and the grounds at the Club, stop by and see!

Township Tax

Collection

Several changes will be taking place with the collection of real estate taxes in Sheffield Township. Lorie Corbin will not have office hours at her house this year. She will now have her office hours at the Sheffield Township Library located at 20 Leather St.

Office hours at the library will be as follows: Sept. 21 10 a.m. .to 1 p.m., Sept. 28 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 23, 25, 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Payments not received during office hours may be mailed to Lorie Corbin, Tax Collector, PO Box 997, Sheffield, PA 16347.

This change will allow easier access for those needing the use of the ramp. Once again, payments will no longer be received at the home of the tax collector, only at the library and only during the hours listed above. Do not give your taxes to the township librarian as she is not to collect them.

Bible School

in Clarendon

The Clarendon Methodist Church will be holding Bible school next week, Aug. 1216 from 6 to 8 p.m. The “Fruit of the Spirit” will be the program and it is for children ages Pre-K to 5th grade. All are welcome!

Sheffield Hospitality

Center

The menu for the week will be: hamburg stew, homemade rolls and brownies for dessert. Thursday brings green pepper soup and egg salad sandwich with an ice cream cake for dessert. Friday’s buffet features pizza among many other feasts with pistachio dessert.

Monday highlights, we will host Mary from Area Agency on Aging her topic will be information on Medicare, she will answer all your questions and concerns, she will be here at 11 a.m. so stop in.

We are off to Seneca Allegany Casino for the day, Tuesday, Aug. 13, to try our luck, would you like to go give us a call at 968-5667. We pick up in Sheffield at 9, and Warren Shurfine at 9:15. The casino will be giving a $25 voucher to play and $5 for food. Remember this casino trip is always the second Tuesday of each month.

Dust off your muumuu for our Hawaiian Luau on Monday, Aug. 19, we are all decorated and ready, we even have shirts you can borrow, just bring your favorite dish for our Buffet table, we provide the ham. Come and have some fun and some great food. Lunch is free.

TRIPS:

This is the last week to sign up for our Branson trip, all $$ due by Aug. 15; you will be delighted with all the entertainment and the best seats in the house! We have seating available, but don’t wait call now.

Brochures available for 2014 trips of New Orleans, Oct. 4-12, and Hawaii dates are Nov. 1-8 with flight out of Buffalo, N.Y., this once in a lifetime trip does not require a passport.

Sports Complex

The Sheffield Township Supervisors and the Sports Boosters are looking for some volunteers to help out in the concession stand during the home football games. The home games are Aug. 31, Sept. 14, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2.

If you would like to volunteer your time to help in the concession during one of these games, contact the township office at 968-3906.

Wolverine Football

The Sheffield Wolverines football team will be practicing down on Memorial Field in Sheffield for the next two weeks. Due to construction of the new elementary school addition the water has been turned off at the school, so practices are down town. Stop down and watch the boys practice from 4:30 to 6 p.m. every evening.

Wolverine Gridiron

Club

The Sheffield Wolverine Gridiron Club will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, Aug. 25 from noon to 5 p.m. at the St. Michael’s Pavilion on Tollgate Road in Sheffield; $8 for large meal or $6 for small meal.

Johnny Appleseed

Festival

Johnny Appleseed Festival T-Shirts are available at the Sheffield Township Office for $10 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve. Stop during office hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Also available are tickets for the cornhole boards. MS290 Stihl Chainsaw, chance at $500 or a load of fire wood sponsored by MAK Logging and Parsons Logging.

This year’s festival is Oct. 11-13. An addition to this year’s festival is a Friday night competition. The schedule of events is as follows:
