Chalk drawings Sunday

Starbrick Community Church, 168 Weiler Rd., will have a special service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, celebrating the anniversary of the following historical events that happened in the month of August: August 3, 1492 Columbus discovered America on Aug. 3, 1492; WWI, Aug. 11, 1918; the first mass-produced Model T Ford, Aug. 12, 1908; WWII ended Aug. 14, 1945; and August 14, 1945 World War II ended; and Echo I Satellite was launched, Aug. 12, 1960. Chalk drawings will be done by Pastor Wells and the children of the church depicting these events. Colored lights and a slide projector will be used to enhance the drawings. During the drawings, there will be special music and a devotion by assistant pastor Trevor Smith. All children are invited to participate. The public is invited.

Class at ACC

Wanda Buerkle will present a class on “Oils & Salves” at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St. The class will include information on making, storing and using these products. Some are used in the kitchen, and some are used for medicinal purposes. This class is open to the public.

Garden tour

Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., will have a garden tour of two members’ gardens on Wednesday, Aug. 14, leaving the center at 1:30 p.m. by TAWC bus. Sign up for this tour no later than Monday, Aug. 12. In case of inclement weather, the tour will be canceled, so call 723-3237 to check on status.

Class to lunch

Warren High School Class of 1947 will have lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

House of Hope

benefit planned

A fund-raiser for House of Hope will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with live music, food and arts. The event will be held at the Conewango Club, 201 Market St. Tickets are available at Applebees, Warren Tire, Crone’s and Ring Around a Rosey.

Class to lunch

Warren High School Class of 1953 will have lunch at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Jackson Valley Country Club.
