Teen reading concludes at Warren Library

This year the teen summer reading program at the Warren Public Library encouraged readers to look “Beneath the Surface” by reading.

“Books help dig up hidden truths and mysteries about life so who knew what the teens would unearth when they read,” said Sharon Gage of the library.

Each teen reader received a reading record to keep track of their reading by marking off a square for each half hour they read. A grand total of 41,130 minutes were read by the participating teens.

There were two random drawings, one June 30 and another July 31, from the reading record sheets that had been turned in to the library and the winners received an iPod shuffle. The winners of the random drawings were Rylee Napolitan and Alicia Striker.

The teen who read the most pages also received an iPod Shuffle. The winner, Iris Roberts, read for a total of 7,560 minutes. Additional readers who amassed a large number of reading minutes were Emmanuelle Satcho (7,410 minutes), Jordan Smith (6,240 minutes), Rylee Napolitan (4,410 minutes) and Sammy Moore (4.230 minutes).
