Access Device Fraud. Warren State Police said on June 11, an unknown person approx., 5’10, 175 lbs. and brown hair, entered the stores at Red Apple, Sugar Grove, and Kwik Fill, Pittsfield, and presented a VISA card for the purchase of gift cards totaling $672.60 (3-Red Apple $172.60, 1-Kwik Fill $500). According to police United Refining received correspondence from VISA that the card had been terminated and that VISA would not pay United Refining for the purchases. Police said this investigation remains open.
Crash. Corry State Police said on Aug. 4, Brandon Cochran, 18, Bear Lake, was attempting to turn on Greeley St, West of North Center St., into his driveway when the brakes on his 1996 GMC Jimmy failed. As Cochran was attempting to make the turn he entered the ditch adjacent to the driveway and rolled the vehicle onto its side. According to police Cochran was taken to Corry Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. No charges were filed.
