Jennifer Stanton of Warren recently graduated with a degree in human services from Des Moines Area Community College.

Tiffani L. Hansen, daughter of Jennifer and Richard Albaugh Jr., Clarendon, has been named to the spring session dean’s list for academic achievement at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a 3.7 grade average. She is a 2012 graduate of Sheffield Area High School.

Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass., has announced that Tyler McClain of Columbus has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2013 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.

Doven M. Tack, a graduate of Eisenhower High School, has been named to the dean’s list at Waynesburg University for the spring term. Tack, a junior at Waynesburg, is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in athletic training.

Sean K. Freitag graduated summa cum laude on June 14 with a bachelor of science degree in strategic studies and defense analysis from Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont. During his time of study at Norwich, Freitag served on active duty with the U.S. Navy. He is currently a Chief Petty Officer stationed out of Virginia Beach, Va. He and his wife and two children reside in Virginia Beach. Freitag is a 2000 graduate of Warren Area High School and is the son of Bo and Stephanie Freitag of Warren.

Brianna Hollabaugh of Youngsville has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville (UPT) for the fall term 2013. She is the daughter of Scott Hollabaugh of Pittsfield and Melissa Turk of Warren. Hollabaugh is a 2007 graduate Tidioute Charter School.

Ellis Beardsley is one of a select group of recipients of a presidential scholarship at the University of Mount Union, Alliance, Ohio. Ellis, of Warren, plans to major in biochemistry at Mount Union. She is the daughter of Andy and Jane Beardsley of Warren. Only six students are awarded the full-tuition Presidential Scholarship at the University of Mount Union each year. To be eligible for a presidential scholarship, students must carry an ACT score of at least 27 or a SAT score of 1220 and a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 or a high school ranking in the top 15 percent. In addition, students must demonstrate outstanding performance during the presidential scholarship competition held each spring.

Rachael Berdine of Clarendon was named to the president’s honor list at DuBois Business College for the spring semester with a 3.44 grade average.

E & M Engineers and Surveyors, PC, Bradford, has announced the winner of its $1000 annual college scholarship, Cody McGraw of Warren. McGraw graduated from Warren High School and is attending Temple University this fall to pursue a degree in civil engineering. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage high school students to pursue a career in the field of civil engineering or land surveying.

Arun Kumar of Warren and Jack Rulander of Warren graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Mass., at commencement exercises on May 18.

Chelsey Morrison of Youngsville was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at the University of Montana Western, Dillon, Mont. The dean’s list includes students achieving a 3.33 grade average or better.

Jakayla Anderson of Warren received a bachelor of science degree in psychology, and Riane Winslow of Warren received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa.

Emily Sherman of Warren, a chemistry major in the class of 2016, was named to the dean’s list in Ithaca College’s School of Humanities and Sciences for the spring 2013 semester.

Morrisville State College recently announced that Rebecca Brunecz of Sugar Grove was named to the president’s list for the spring 2013 semester. To be named to the president’s list, a student must achieve a perfect 4.0 average for the semester and complete at least 12 credit hours.

Tops Friendly Markets announced that the company has awarded three Youngsville store associates/family members with scholarships for the 2013/2014 school year. Associates, dependents and grandchildren honored from Tops Youngsville store located at Railroad Street were: Beth Rougeux and Amy Beason

Company-wide and in partnership with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local One, Tops has given $806,350 to 699 Tops first-year and matriculated college union associates and associate’s dependents and grandchildren for the 2013-2014 academic year. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $1,500 annually over the course of four academic years. Since 1989, Tops has awarded $12,400,000in scholarships to more than 12,000 recipients.

Casey Main of Warren has been named to the dean’s list for the 2012-13 spring semester at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa. Dean’s list status is awarded to students who earn a 3.6 grade point average or better. Main is a junior Christian ministries major.
