The team of Rick Rohlin and Scott Pierson took first place in the Cable Hollow Monday Scratch League with a total of 93.5 points for the season, while Ron Lemon and Dan Lemon placed second with a season score of 80. Rohlin and Pierson had the low gross round of 35 on July 29.
Little League equipment
Warren County Youth Baseball/Softball Association (WCYBSA)/Little League coaches equipment return is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Coaches are asked to return Little League equipment bags, totes, etc. to the garage to the left of Studio 329 at 329 Pennsylvania Ave. W.
Fall coaches meeting
There will be a meeting for all Warren Area High School and Beaty Warren Middle School fall coaches at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Warren Area High School, Room 002 by the auditorium.
Tryouts for the Warren Area High School volleyball team will be held from 9-11 a.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, at WAHS, not 9-5:30 as was published in Tuesday’s Times Observer. Anyone interested must have their completed and signed physical and HIPAA forms, which are available on the school district website (wcsdpa.org).
The 21st annual Michael J. Kolos Memorial Softball Tournament, sponsored by Paws Along the River Humane Society, will be held August 2, 3, and 4 at Betts Park in Warren. The tournament will feature both a men’s and co-ed bracket. To enter a team, submit a completed roster along with a $240 entry fee to the Humane Society at 212 Elm Street, Warren, Pa. or email to email@example.com. The Kinzua County Volleyball Chapter will be holding a rules interpretation meeting at 6 p.m., August 5 at Sheffield Area High School.
Gage Rodgers, son of Russell’s Ed Rodgers, recently earned his first win in the WKA Manufactures Cup Series of kart racing, taking the pole in a Rookie Sportsman class and winning the WKA Grand Nationals pre-final race in South Bend, Ind.
Gage, a seven-year-old from Coldwater, Mich., has been racing go-karts for three years. He led 17 of 18 laps in the pre-final race. Gage left South Bend going 1-2 for the weekend and finds himself in the middle of a fight for the national championship in his class. The series has two rounds left, in Pittsburgh and North Carolina in September.
He is the grandson of Russell-native Walt Rodgers and Brenda Rodgers, of Russell.
