Shirley Birchard McKay, 83, formerly of Tidioute, died Wednesday morning, July 25, 2013 at the Warren Manor, where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born in Grand Valley, PA, May 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Charles V. and Gaynell Drace Birchard. She had attended the former Excelsior Corners School and the Grand Valley School. She was a very active member of the Tidioute Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School there for many years.
In addition to her parents, she had been preceded in death by her husband, Willard G. McKay, who died November 25, 2010, a sister, Lillian Turner, and a brother William Birchard.
She is survived by two sons; Kenneth L. McKay, Tidioute, PA and Willard Scott McKay, Chandlers Valley, PA, seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Helen Nelson, Tidioute, Mary Crocker and Mable Brown, both of Pittsfield, PA, Bertha Boughton, Warren, PA, two brothers, Lyman H. Morrison, Linden, MI, Robert L. Morrison, Tidioute, PA. and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be recieved at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm St. Tidioute, Friday, July 26th from 2 until 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM, and are invited to attend services in the Tidioute Baptist Church, Saturday, July 27th at 11:00 O’clock with Rev. David Roach, officiating.
Private interment will follow in Swedish Union Cemetery
