Warren football coach Wright stepping down

Warren Area High School head football coach Brad Wright has resigned after five seasons.

Wright will be relocating due to professional reasons, and reportedly turned in his resignation on Wednesday afternoon.

Warren Athletic Director Jeff White confirmed the position will advertised for 10 days at www.wcsdpa.org beginning Thursday.

Wright was an assistant coach at Washington & Lee High School, Westmoreland County, Va., and at North Stafford High School in Stafford County, Va., where he began coaching the shotgun spead offense that he eventually brought to Warren, with success.

Wright was an assistant coach (offensive coordinator) for the Dragons under Brandon Falk for two seasons before becoming head coach in 2008 following Falk’s resignation.

Wright was 24-29 as head coach over five seasons, including District 10 Class AAA playoff appearances in 2010 and 2012, in which Warren finished 9-3 and won its first D-10 playoff game since 2002 (21-12 over Conneaut).
