CTI wins wild one over Park Avenue

Try to keep up with me here.

With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees and playing with only eight players, CTI overcame big odds, defeating Park Avenue Motor Car, 26-25, in Valley Girls Slow Pitch Softball League play, Monday, at Betts Park.

It was hard to blame players from both teams for being fatigued after this one. Together, the teams combined for 15 extra base hits. For CTI, Jen Jones, Kristy Kuzminski, Cayla VanOrd and Terrena Derby all doubled and Kathleen Creek, Sarah Phillips (twice), Jones and Michelle Slade all tripled. Park Avenue was no slouch in the big hit department, getting doubles from Alicia Corey and Mallary Myers, triples from Kellie McClement, Meghan Stanton and Carly Kirkpatrick and a homer from Corrie Bednez.

Creek and Jones led the winners with 7-for-8 performances at the dish. Corey was 5-for-6 to lead Park Avenue in defeat.

In other action, Savanna Cochran was 5-for-5 with two home runs and Kristin Sheldon was 4-for-5, helping Mike’s Townline Service to a convincing 22-2 win over Allegheny Cyclery (ABC) in Valley Girls Slow Pitch Softball League play, Monday at Betts Park.
