Jammers earn 15th win

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – The Jamestown Jammers jumped out to a 6-0 lead and improved to 15-8 on the New York-Penn League Baseball League season with an 8-4 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades, Wednesday, at Dutchess Stadium.

The Picnkney Division leading Jammers have won two straight and six of eight heading into Thursday’s second game of the three-game set with the McNamara Division Renegades.

Jamestown scored three runs in both the second and third innings to build a substantial road lead. In the second, Andrew Dennis brought home the first run of the game with an RBI single and not long after Adam Frazier followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0.

In the third, Jamestown used the same formula of one-run single, two-run single to push the lead to 6-0. Dennis again supplied the RBI single and, this time, Jeff Roy brought home a pair with a two-run single.

Hudson Valley got two runs back in the bottom of the third, but the Jammers would answer those tallies with two of their own in the top of the seventh. Frazier led off the inning with a walk and Jacoby Jones used his legs to do the rest of the damage. Jones smacked a ball to center and raced all the way around to home for an inside-the-park home run, making it 8-2 Jamestown.

Reliever Brett McKinney allowed a two-run homer to Oscar Hernandez in the bottom of the ninth, but it only served to tidy up the final score.

Five Jamestown players had two hits apiece, including Frazier, Jones, Francisco Aponte, Dennis and Roy. Cody Dickson pitched the first four innings, allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Cesar Lopez pitched three perfect innings of relief to earn his second win.
