Wayne Swanson had low gross of 38 and Jim McCollough had low net of 30 in Blueberry Senior League play, Monday, at Blueberry Hill Golf Club. Pat Hultquist had second low gross of 40 and Mike Hawley, Bob Wolfe, Bob Buerkle, Ralph Gallo and Steve Gelotte all had third low gross of 41. Rob Ritchie had low gross of 33 and John Larson had low net of 28 in Tuesday Night Golf League play, at Jackson Valley Golf Club. Soccer news

The 19th Annual Over 200 vs. Under 200 soccer matches will be played Sunday, at War Memorial Field. Kickoff for the girls match will be at 2:30 p.m. with the men’s match for the Bicentennial Challenge Cup will be at 4 p.m.

A Ford Soccer Skills Challenge event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Eisenhower High School. The camp is attended for children ages 8-13 and participation in the challenge is free. To sign up, visit www.fordsoccerskillschallenge.com/warrenmidtownmotors.

Triathlon

The 8th Annual Willow Creek Triathlon will be held, Saturday, August 3, at Allegany State Park in New York. The event begins with a 300-yard swim at Quaker Lake, continues with a 15-mile bike ride to Corydon Hotel on Route 346 and ends with a three-mile run to the Willows Restaurant.

Those interested in pre-registering can do so at the triathlon’s website at www.willowcreektriathlon.org or www.score-this.com. Registrations are only being taken online. Pre-registrations for a reduced rate will be accepted until July 21. The price is $40 for an individual and $80 for a team. After July 21, the price is $50 for an individual and $90 for a team.

College news

Warren Area High School graduate and University of Massachusetts punter Colter Johnson has been included on the preseason watch list for the 2013 Ray Guy Award, which honors the nation’s top collegiate punter. The preseason list includes 25 punters. The number of eligible candidates will grow when the award opens for nomination in September. The complete list of candidates will be released on October 25. The 10 semifinalists will then be revealed on November 8. The field is then cut to three on November 25 and the winner is announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards show, airing on ESPN on Dec. 12.

Beaty football

A parents meeting for football players going into seventh and eighth grades at Beaty Warren Middle School will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the practice field behind the Warren County Career Center about upcoming season.
