July is the month for the annual boat trip. This month will be the Gateway Clipper out of Pittsburgh for a luncheon cruise and music from the Patsy Cline era. After the cruise there will be a choice of stops including Rivers casino, Station Square or Ross Park Mall. Participants can tell your group leader where you want to stop.

The second picnic of the summer will be July 25 complete with hamburgers, potato salad, beans and cake and ice cream. Bingo will be played after lunch.

The full AARP driving course will be offered this month on July 11 & 12 at Allegheny Community Center from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Completion of this 8-hour course entitles you to a discount on most automobile insurances. If there are 2 drivers on the same insurance policy, both drivers must complete the course to qualify for the discount. You can make your class enrollment by calling 723-3237 soon.

Don’t miss it! Farmers Market Vouchers are available one more day, on July 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. If you missed the opportunity to get one and you’re a Warren/Forest County resident, age 60 or older who meets income guidelines ($21,257 or less for single or $28,694 or less for a couple), you can bring your ID with a birth date on it to Allegheny Community Center and get one on the 9th. This is your last chance for this season!

All non-casino trips leave from the CRI parking lot located on Pennsylvania Avenue West, just over the railroad tracks on the left (along the river), unless otherwise instructed to park elsewhere. Salamanca Casino trips depart from the Big Lots parking lot at the Warren Mall, as always. Not sure, just call 723-3237!

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. M-F with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Mon. & Wed. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather. Hot lunches or light alternative lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no reservation required. Take-outs available.


The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers July 8-12: hot dog Monday; fish Tuesday; spaghetti Wednesday; chicken salad Thursday; chef’s buffet Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
