Corry edges Youngsville in Senior Legion

Corry Northwest Savings Bank edged Youngsville Post 658, 3-2, on Friday in a Warren County Senior American Legion Baseball League game at Davis Street Field in Youngsville.

Will Gerould scattered six hits and left a runner on second to end the game for Corry (5-3), striking out five. Brody Wod and Gerould had RBI hits in the top of the first off Youngsville starter Brandon Cochran to go up 2-1 before Youngsville cut the gap. Cory Craig eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

Wood scored on Joey Sonntag’s sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth to make it 3-1 Corry.

With runners on second and third in the bottom of the fifth, Ryan Williams’ base hit scored one before a Youngsville runner was thrown out at the plate with the potential tying run.

Youngsville’s Cochran went four innings with Jacob Linkerhof throwing three scoreless in relief.

Youngsville is at Blair at 6 p.m. Monday at Old Legion Field.
