Sugar Grove Area News In Brief

Barnyard Classic

It’s Barnyard Weekend. The Annual Eisenhower 3 on 3 Basketball Barnyard Classic will be held on June 29.

The tournament will be held on the 10 permanent outdoor courts at the Eisenhower High School and every effort will be made to hold the tournament in its entirety on Saturday only.

Registration begins on Saturday at 7:45 a.m. All teams must be registered 30 minutes prior to their first game. Games will start at 9 a.m. More information and directions on how to register can be found at All proceeds from the event benefit the Eisenhower Lady Knights basketball team.

Spectators need to come on out for a day of great basketball, fun, and food. Although there is construction happening throughout the facility, the lower parking lot will be transformed into our basketball tournament just as in previous years so plan to join us once again for the Barnyard Classic.

Sugar Grove Book Club

Thank you to all who came out for the book club discussion this week. We now move on to the July selection which is by Bill Bryson, “Notes from Big Country”. This choice will challenge you to think about American excesses. For example, the author, originally from Iowa, returns from living in England for a period of years and goes for cereal at the grocery store. In England when shopping for cereal there was only one choice but as you know things in America are slightly different. Grab a copy and get reading so you can join us for the fun Book Club discussion.

It will be held on July 29.

Thank You

The board of directors and the executive director of Love In the Name of Christ for the Brokenstraw Valley thank all of the volunteers for their devotion, time and energy to keep this ministry running so smoothly.

The Mission Covenant Church on Matthews Run Road in Sugar Grove will hold its annual Vacation Bible School on July 22-26 from 10 a.m. to noon. An Epic Adventure awaits all kids as they enter into Kingdom Rock.
