Woman charged following incident
A Warren woman wanted for her involvement in a domestic violence incident last week precipitated by the use of bath salts was taken into custody and charged with arson, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, and criminal mischief Monday morning.
Warren City Police, assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Warren-based state police and the Adult Probation Department served Deborah Ann Miles, 41, 613 W. Fifth St., with a warrant early Monday morning. Miles was unable to post $50,000 in bail after a preliminary arraignment Monday and remains in the Warren County Jail.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 3.
Last Thursday, police responded to David Brewer’s residence at 102 Hammond St. for a report that Miles was inside the residence armed with kitchen knives and attempting to set the residence on fire.
Miles was smoking bath salts with Brewer at 102 Hammond St. and after a verbal altercation “threatened to kill Brewer and burn the house down,” according to the complaint. The argument turned physical and Brewer threw Miles out of the front door of the house. Police said Miles then went to the back of the house and kicked in the door, and Brewer ran out the front of the house.
Miles had left when police arrived and after a search of the home found a five-gallon gas can in the living room. Brewer later told police it was not there when he left and was usually kept in the garage. Police said Miles brought the gasoline can into the house from the garage and allegedly doused some rooms with gasoline.
Police then responded to 13 N. Parker St. for a report of a suspicious female, Miles, who approached a female outside and asked if she could sleep at the residence. When the victim said no, Miles told her, “You are going to be sorry,” according to the criminal complaint.
On Friday, Brewer was taken into custody on charges of probation violation by officers of the Warren County Adult Probation Department assisted by the Warren City Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Brewer was originally placed on probation for possession of drug paraphernalia and was committed to the Warren County Jail.
According to police, Brewer admitted to police he had been smoking bath salts with Miles when she became hysterical and allegedly threatened him with a kitchen knife. Brewer was able to remove Miles from his house, but she returned and smashed windows to regain entry. Brewers told officers he fled and sought refuge at a nearby relative’s house.
