LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STARS: Tough loss: Punxsy scores quickly in Girls Majors win over Warren all-stars

Warren was knocked to the losers bracket of the Girls Majors Little League All-Stars tournament on Sunday, after a 12-1 four-inning loss to Punxsutawney at Hawbaker Field.

Warren will next play in the losers bracket final on Tuesday at St. Marys.

Kylee Lingenfelder and Julia Lobdell were all set to duel it out from the pitching circle Sunday before a bunch of Warren errors got in the way.

Punxsutawney scored three times in the bottom of the first – all unearned runs – and the rout was on.

Trailing 4-0 after three innings, Celia Chase hit a ball over the first-base bag for a base hit. After advancing to second, Chase scored on Trinity Wennberg’s RBI single to make it 4-1 Punxsy. But Punxsy scored twice more in the third and six more times in the fourth, culminating with the ten-run rule win on a continuation play.

Lingenfelder struck out 11 for Punxsy, which advances to the Girls Majors North/South bracket championship final. Warren advances to the losers bracket final, with the winner facing Punxsy and having to win twice.
