Golf results

Jim Fehlman had low gross of 40 and John McKinney had low net of 33 in Youngsville Area Senior Men’s Golf League play, Tuesday, at Maplehurst Country Club. Bob Bires had two birdies during play while Pete Hofert, Dale Martin, Henry Beitsinger, Don Hook, David Cassidy, Jim Rose and Bob Waterman had one each.

Nic-L-Inn improved to 3-5 on the season with a 9-5 victory over Fralick Chiropractic in late Richard T. Betts Modified Rec Softball League play, Wednesday, at Betts Park. Ricky Carlson, Ryan Lemon, Sam Zembardo and Drew Hale all had doubles for the winners and Kyle Grey was 2-for-3 with a pair of two-baggers for defending champion Fralick.

Golf scramble

The annual Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department benefit Golf Scramble will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 6, at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

The event will have a shotgun start and the $60 per golfer fee includes food at the turn, on course prizes and chicken barbeque dinner after the event.

Tennis news

Free girls tennis instruction is offered at 7 p.m., each Wednesday evening through the summer (weather permitting). The program is instructed by Warren Area High School varsity boys tennis coach Jeff Bartsch and is offered to girls going into grades 8-to-12. To sign up, contact coach Bartsch at 726-1079.
