WALTER R. PITTMAN

Walter Russell Pittman died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY, on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 with his daughters at his side. He passed from complications due to advanced heart disease.

Walter spent his life in service. He was a veteran Petty Officer 2nd Class of the US NAVY, a member of the Blue Lodge 252 Coudersport Consistory as a 32? Scottish Rite Mason, and a lifetime member of the Shriners at Zem Zem Temple Shrine in Erie, PA. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Chemung County Rod and Gun Club, and a very proud lifetime member of the NRA Golden Eagles. He loved to shoot targets and hunt!

Walter worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a clerk for 17 years and then changed professions to become a wellrespected court reporter for the State of New York and Chemung County Court for over 25 years. To the attorneys and judges he worked with in Elmira, NY, including Judge Pete Crew, he asked that we express his thanks for the many years of support and friendship.

Walter is predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra Berglund Pittman, his parents Paul and Evelyn Pittman, Sister Carol Huckabone, Aunts Margaret and Pauline Pittman, and his Granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Pierce. He will continue to watch over his living family members including daughter Dede Pierce and her husband Tim, daughter Beth Mamrosch and her husband Mike, and daughter JaneMargaret Bender and her husband Joel. He will forever love his grandchildren: Michelle Pierce, Shayna Pierce, Erica Mamrosch Lupoli, Alyssa Mamrosch, Amanda Doli, Jakendra Bender and Jessandra Bender. He loved his girls and his girls loved him! Walter also leaves behind three greatgrandchildren: Little Mike Mulvana, John Thomas Lupoli, and Aldijan Doli.

A memorial service will be held in Walter’s home town of Warren, PA, on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Conewango Avenue.
