Shurle Arlene Bergey McNeal of Warren went home to Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. She was the daughter of Nelson Harold Tyson Bergey and Kate Elisabeth Weik Bergey, and was born in Danbury, CT hospital on September 22, 1928. She was infant baptized March 30, 1930, at the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Lebanon, PA.
She attended schools in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. While attending school, she typed for a Justice of the Peace and did other countless jobs during youth. She was a graduate from Towanda High School in 1947. She worked in Towanda as a secretary for Northern Penn from 1947 to 1950 and for Dupont from 1950 to 1953.
Shurle loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her family and put them first throughout her life. She enjoyed God’s Creation, especially pruning plants. She and her husband tithed to The Gideons International, Braille Bibles International, PCAP and charities. On September 22, 1959, she was baptized by the Lord’s Holy Spirit of Love and continually distributed His Holy Scriptures-evangelizing Christ’s Love and His Coming Soon (1 Thessalonians 4:1618 & John 14:6).
She is survived by sons Wayne Christian McNeal and Hollister David McNeal, and wife, Sheryle; twin grandsons, Isaac Hollister McNeal and John Thomas McNeal, all of Warren, PA; her brother, Hans Bergey, and wife, Hilja, Hope, RI, and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen McNeal on November 17, 2012, whom she married on April 4, 1953, at the Towanda Methodist Church, where they were members; her sister, Vivienne Howard on March 31, 1977; and her brother, David Bergey in June 2002.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Warren Alliance Church, 278 Kinzua Road, Route 59, Warren, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held with Jim Chapman, Head Elder, officiating.
