JOHN POLLEY

John H. Polley, 80, of 30 Robertson Dr. Youngsville, passed away peacefully Sunday June 16, 2013 at UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.

He was born March 6, 1933 in Spring Creek, Pa., a son of the Late Francis Polley and Cora Groves Polley Calanni. He was a 1951 graduate of Panama High School. John Retired after 28 years as the head Metallurgist at the former National Forge Co. He also worked at Modern Industries. He also drove school bus for Johnson Transportation for many years. John was a devout Christian and was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Youngsville, where he sang in the choir and held many offices. John was a generous man and enjoyed his time volunteering for Hospice, the American Cancer Society, Life Alert, and his numerous mission trips with Vacation with a Purpose. In 1985, he married Agatha Neizmik, who survives him, and together, they enjoyed playing music for the residents at the Rouse Estates. John was a whizz at playing the Harmonica and attended Blur Grass Festivals and jam sessions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Rodney (Jen) Polley of Lebanon, Pa., Dorothy (Mike) Bero and Cynthia Shine, both of Warren, Edwin Polley of Sheffield, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 step children, Larry (Charlotte) Neizmik of Erie, Lori (Peter) Frauenknecht of Munich, Germany, a very special step grandson, Patrick Frauenknecht, that he adopted as his own, two sisters, Frances Sard of Panama, N.Y., Lois Thieme of Houston TX, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Peter Polley, two brothers, Charles Polley and Fred Haley, his step father Peter Calanni, and a granddaughter Mary Margaret Bero.

Friends will be received on Thursday (June 20th) from 47 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville. A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday (June 29th) at 1:00 p.m. at the EUM Church, 2nd St. in Youngsville, with the Rev. Annette Gerber, Pastor, and the Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Warren Co. Home, officiating. Burial will be in Warren Co. Memorial Park.
