Art workshop planned
A free outdoor drawing and composition workshop will be sponsored by Kane Artworks at the Depot and Warren Art League from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 20, on the grounds of Olmsted Manor, Ludlow. Participants should take a sketchbook, art supplies and a chair. Draw or paint on the grounds and meet and talk to other area artists. To be included for lunch at 12:30 p.m., send pre-payment of $10 to Marian Aranyos, 14 Leslie Blvd. Warren, PA. 16365 by June 18. This event will be held rain or shine as lunch is already reserved, and there is room indoors and on the covered patio if there is inclement weather. Warren Area High School Class of 1978 reunion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Jackson Valley Country Club. Once again is time for the Barnes United Methodist Church to host its annual Strawberry Festival on Thursday, June 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The cost is a donation. Strawberry shortcake on homemade biscuits, coffee or Kool-Aid will be served. Bring a friend or neighbor and join in bringing in the traditional beginning of the summer season. The church is located about two miles south of Sheffield on Route 666.
Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., will have a program on Monday, June 17, at 12:45 p.m. presented by Wanda Buerkle. She will present a class on “Infusions & Decoctions,” some of the simplest ways to use herbs that have been used for generations. Some of the uses are for medicinal purposes, household cleaning, cooking and multi-purpose. She’ll teach participants how to make these at home. Class is open to the public and will be in the Arts & Craft room.

A “Team Remember Vendor/Craft Show” will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Hampton Inn Conference Center, Warren. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. This is everyone’s opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember those who have died from cancer and to raise funds and awareness to help end cancer.
