At Chapman This Week
The following programs are planned at Chapman State Park this weekend:
On Friday, June 14, “Insectigators” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater. Become an investigator on this trip into the insect world! Join the Park Naturalist for a walk along the nature trail as we look for bugs. Bug containers and magnifying lenses will be provided for your use. Meet at the amphitheater.
Movie night will be held from 9 to 10:30 p.m. with “Insects.” Enjoy watching insects from around the globe in this feature presentation. BBC Earth brings you “Life”, a series of incredible stories from the frontiers of the natural world. Meet at the amphitheater. (Pavilion #4, in case of rain).
On Saturday, June 15, a turtle program will be presented by John Bowler from 11 a.m. to noon. Come to the Beach Concession Stand to see a presentation- all about turtles- by local turtle enthusiast John Bowler. He will be bringing along his two live turtles to help with the presentation.
From 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, a craft stone turtle project will be led by the park naturalist at the beach concession stand. Participants will make turtles to keep in their house.
On Sunday, a non-denominational church service will be held at the park amphitheater at 10 a.m.

The concession stand – with boat rentals/snacks/ice/firewood, etc. – is open from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m Saturday and Sunday; and noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (closed Tuesdays). Use your camping receipt to receive a 10-percent discount on boat and bike rental.
