Trinity will host discussion

Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, Poplar Street at Pennsylvania Ave. W., Warren, will host a discussion forum, facilitated by the Rev. Fr. Matthew Scott beginning June 12. The first topic will be “Is the Book of Genesis factual or allegorical?” The sessions will be held on the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Potential future topics include: Is God still speaking to us as He did through the prophets? If so, what might He be saying? Can we add to the Bible or remove parts of it? How can Christians hear and receive wisdom from other religious traditions? Is God “a being” or Being itself? Does faith in Christ matter to an individual? Are Reiki, yoga, meditation, etc., unchristian because they are not specifically Christian? Are specific sections of the Bible based on cultural and economic facts of the time, or is the teaching timeless? Does a specific section of the Bible still apply? Should Church, or a specific church, support government? What is the role of national pride in the life of faith?
