Little League workbee

Due to damage from high winds at the Farm Colony Complex, the Warren County Youth Baseball Softball Association is asking the public to assist at a Little League Workbee there beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday for cleanup and repairs to allow Citro Field and Hawbaker Field to be playable. Weidert and Farm Colony A will need more extensive repairs and likely will not be available to play on the remainder of the 2013 season.

Projects will include removal of downed trees, debris and the repair of fences. Hammers, screw guns, crowbars, etc. are needed.

All-star tryouts

Little League all-star tryouts have been scheduled for the following divisions (schedule also at wcybsa.org):

Boys Minors (9-10): 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Betts-Jackson Field;

Boys Majors (11-12): 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Betts-Jackson Field;

Girls Minors (9-10): 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Hawbaker Field (tentative);

Girls Majors (11-12): 5 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Farm Colony B (tentative).

The team of Myron Turfitt, Kirsten Turfitt, Tim Shield and Cyndi Shield finished first at 66 points in Friday’s Conewango Valley Country Club Couples League “Tennessee Waltz” event. John Dale, Judy Dale, Ron Leofsky and Deb Leofsky were second at 67, and Dick Cole, Onda Cole, Bart Jensen and Tammy Jensen third at 70.

Joe Bellitto had the low gross of 36 on Thursday at CVCC Men’s Day.

Busti’s Matt Sherman shot his first 25 and 50 straight and was also the high sub junior for the evening. Others shooting 50 were Busti’s Tiffany Decker for high lady. Randolph’s Tom Boire for high vet. Celoron’s Brian Ecelberger and Kevin Nicklas. High junior was Derek Rumsey with 49. High senior vet was Red Clark with 49. High super senior vet was Howard Arnold with 49.
