Robert D. “Rob” Higginbotham, 33, of 420 Park Avenue, Kane, died Thursday evening, May 23, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Highland Township south of Kane.
Born November 7, 1979 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the rev. Robert W. and Ruth McDowell Higginbotham, Jr.
Rob was a drug and alcohol counselor at Abraxis near Marienville. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a coach for the Kane Area Soccer Association for those under six years old.
Surviving, in addition to his parents of Cranberry Township, are his fianc Katie Cappello of Kane; two sons, Connor W. and Robert “RJ” Higginbotham, both at home; a sister, Rebecca J. Gillam of Edwardsville, Kan.; and grandparents Robert W. and Betty Higginbotham, Sr. Several aunts and uncles survive, plus a niece and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by grandparents F. Wilson and Kathryn Jean McDowell and Delores J. Higginbotham.
The family will receive friends at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00, at which time a memorial service there will be held with the rev. Douglas B. Myers, pastor of the Unionville United Methodist Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Kane Area Soccer Assn., or toward an educational trust for his sons at Northwest Savings Bank, 56 Fraley St., Kane, PA 16735.
