Bullpen outslugs Crescent Beer in Over 30 softball

Bullpen likes to pull off the big upset.

For the second straight year, Bullpen of the B Division has upset A Division’s Crescent Beer, this time 16-13 in a slugfest in the Over 30 Modified Softball League at Betts Park.

With two players under the age of 50, Bullpen broke open at 10-9 game with six runs in the top of the sixth inning, highlighted by four consecutive hits from Rich Selfridge, Jim Morrison, R.J. Bowers and Ron Thomas. Selfridge’s, Bowers’ and Thomas’ hits were doubles.

Thomas finished with three hits, and Ted Nuttall, Selfridge and Dave Persing had two hits each for Bullpen (1-2), which had lost to two B teams prior.

Crescent Beer is 1-2.

Dave Stuart was 3-for-4 and Nick Bryan homered in S&K Scope Mount’s 12-8 win over Freddie’s Bar & Grill.

Dave Klemens and Ryan Johnson had three hits each in CMFS/The Bucket’s 7-5 win over Accent Staffing.

Tim Munksgard had a big game, with two home runs and a double. Munksgard’s homers both came in a 10-run fourth inning, and Josh Egger and Kenny Frank hit homers for 3-0 Mangione Beverage in an 11-1 win over Klenowski Law.

Lee Gray was 3-for-3 with a triple, helping American Legion to a narrow 8-7 victory over Kwik Fill.
