Marjorie Marie Merritt, 84, of Cobham Park Road, Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Merritt was born on November 28, 1928 in Tionesta, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Wiles Lackey.
Mrs. Merritt was employed by the New Process /Blair Co. and later worked in the cafeteria at Irvindale School, from which she retired. She was involved with junior high girls basketball and gymnastics, and was a girl scout and brownie leader. She was also a Sunday school teacher and 40year member of the choir, and parttime leader of the Ladies Circle at the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Judy Ward and Jeffrey Merritt, both of Warren, three grandsons, Steven R. Ward, James M. Ward, and Jacob J. Merritt, all of Warren, PA; two granddaughters, Brittany M. Merritt of Greensboro, SC and Nicole C. Merritt of Pittsburgh; one great granddaughter, Chloe Burlough; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin “Bud” Merritt on December 15, 2002, whom she married in Warren, PA on July 16, 1949, and her stepfather, Millard Albaugh, whom raised Marjorie.
Friends may call at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m., at which time a service will be held there, with Lay Pastor Tim Olsen, Garland Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army or the Calvary Baptist Church.
