What was added and what was taken away

Several additions and many more cuts were included in the final proposed budget approved by the Warren County School District board of directors on Monday.

Among the additions were the following:

-Rewriting the curriculum – $20,000

-Textbook replacement – $200,000

-Three elementary teachers – $65,000 each

-Accountant – $60,000

-Computer replacement – $150,000

The reductions include:

-Modifying the middle level philosophy, resulting in five teacher cuts – $250,000

-Redefine the use of substitutes – $100,000

-Combine Allegheny Valley Elementary School and Sheffield Elementary School – $200,000

-Move the Learning Enrichment Center to a district facility – $16,440

-Eliminate 4Sight tests – $10,000

-Move storage at the TAB building to a district facility – $21,644

-Copiers/communications – $50,000

-Unemployment – $375,000

-Transportation – $100,000

-Nine teacher attrition/cuts – $611,000

-Custodial supplies/utilities – $60,000

-Medical savings – $300,000

-Five full-time aides – $150,000

-District contingency – $100,000

-South Street Early Learning Center closure – $500,000

-Utility contingency – $50,000

-Modify zero-based building budgets – $150,000
