Ruth I. Lind, 90, a resident of the Rouse Warren Co. Home, passed away there on Saturday May 11, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 30, 1922 in Oil City, a daughter of the late James and Sadie Pierce Harkins. Ruth had worked at the former New Process Co. and Sylvania in Warren, retiring from there. She was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church in Youngsville, and was a founding member of the Youngsville Woman’s bowling league. Ruth enjoyed sewing, golfing, bowling, hunting and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Bill) Slocum of Youngsville and Paul “Buzz” (Mazie) Lind of Charleston, SC, a brother Robert Harkins of Az., and 2 sisters, Sadie (Ken) Lind of Youngsville and Betty Webster, of Az., 12 grandchildren, Bryan Slocum, Bob Slocum, Belinda Rapp Camp, Colleen Rapp Robinson, Mike Jewart, Barb Emahizer, Tammy Lind Pillow, Paul Lind II, Scott Lind, Dustin Lind, Jessie Lind and Shawn Lind, 17 greatgrandchil dren, one greatgreat grandson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Lind, whom she married September 6, 1947, and who died May 14, 1996, brothers Alvie, Russell, James, Charles, Garvin and Jack, and sisters, Stella Gruber, and Evelyn, Hazel and Isabella Harkins.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 47 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Saron Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark Fischer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in The Burea Lutheran Cemetery.
