Golf results

The team of Billy Andrews and Doug Swanson won a Weakest Link Tournament held Saturday at Conewango Valley Country Club with a score of 132.

Larry Salapek, Dustin Andersen and Ralph Clark all shared low gross of 37 and Jim Higgins had low net of 27 in Warren County Industrial Golf League play, Thursday, at Blueberry Hill Golf Club. Here are the team standings through Thursday’s round:

Chautauqua trap

Celoron downed Randolph, 340-335 and Busti beat Carroll, 331-327, in Chautauqua County Trap League competition this week. JoAnn Lewis was high lady with a 46, Bob Schilling was high super senior vet with a 48 and Hod Edgreen was high senior vet with a 48. Ray Lee and Bob Faga shared high vet honors with 49’s, Andrew Hvizdzak and Derek Rumsey shared high junior with 45’s and Dalton Becker was high sub-junior with a 47.

Persistent rain forced the postponement of all on-track activity, Saturday, at Busti, N.Y.’s Stateline Speedway.


The Warren County Horseshoes League will begin pitching at 6 p.m., Monday, at the Warren County Fairgrounds.

Big 30 addition

Warren Area High School senior Mark Cecco is a Warren County addition to the Pennsylvania team for the 40th Annual Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Classic football game scheduled for Saturday, August 3, at Bradford’s Parkway Field.

Cecco is a 6’2, 220-pound center and defensive tackle who served as a team captain for the Dragons in 2012 and was named a Region 5 second-team all-star during his senior season.

Senior Legion

The Youngsville Post 658 and Sugar Grove Post 758 Senior American Legion Baseball League teams will be combined into one team this season. Any players aged 15-19 in the Eisenhower and Youngsville attendance areas that are interested in participating should contact Kevin Hoover at 706-1334 by Saturday, May 18, for further information.

Youth soccer

The Kinzua U12 Flatt boys soccer team defeated Titusville, 5-1, on Sunday. Ryon Flatt and Mitchell Grosch had two goals each and Andrew Beyer added one goal. Beyer, Carter Borland, Grosch and A.J. Seyler had assists and Thomas Lucks and Joshua John split time in goal for Kinzua Flatt (5-0). Stephen Ashbaugh, Colin Blair, Borland and Seyler were credited as defensive standouts.
