Woman’s Club has fashion show

Woman’s Club of Warren welcomed 134 members and friends to the May 2013 luncheon and fashion show. Woman’s Club members and friends modeled spring fashions from Skillmans of Bemus Point, N.Y. Carol Skillman, from Skillmans, gave a brief description of several collections available at her store. Within the collections there were many styles and colors from which to choose.

Co-chairman Cathy Grant was pleased to announce that every year more fashion show tickets are sold enabling Woman’s Club to preserve the Water’s Mansion for the use of citizens of the Warren area for dinners, plays and celebrations such as weddings and anniversaries.

Co-chairman Judith Scalise decorated tables with vintage hats, gloves and scarves from her personal collection. Grant, displayed a collection of vintage hats, hat boxes and hat calendar in the foyer. Pastel napkins and tablecloths, in traditional Warren Woman’s Club colors, were used to decorate the tables.

A lovely basket with a tea theme, contributed by a generous Woman’s Club member, was raffled. The basket contained a teapot, creamer and sugar bowl, two antique tea cups, copy of Tea Time magazine, a bouquet of roses, containers of assorted teas and assorted cookies, and two tickets for summer 2013 Sunday afternoon tea at the Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution.

Incoming president Judy Champlin reminded everyone of the upcoming Centennial Gala to be held May 18 at the Woman’s Club. Cocktail hour will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.; and dancing with the DJ “After Dark” will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 a person.Paid reservations must be received at the Woman’s Club, 310 Market Street, by May 11.

Catering Plus served lunch of fruit cup, gelatin salad, assorted breads, chicken a la king on puff pastry, and sweet souffle with lemon sauce.

Grant and Scalise thanked all Woman’s Club members and friends who modeled and all who helped with set up, especially Woman’s Club Manager Marilyn Moyer.
