Paula Marie Southwell, 18, of 1650 Liberty Street, Warren, Pa., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Paula was born October 25, 1994, in Warren to William (Butch) and Cathy Nelson Southwell. She was a senior at Warren Area High School and had been accepted to American University in Washington D.C. with a 4prong major consisting of Communications, Legal, Economics, and Government (CLEG). Before heading off to school this fall, Paula had planned a crosscountry motorcycle trip.

Paula was currently employed at McKissock Education and formerly worked at Perkins Restaurant. She was also known by many for her babysitting skills. She volunteered at Warren General Hospital and many other organizations. Paula was a baptized member of First Lutheran Church, Warren, where she was involved in the youth group, Extreme Losers, allowing her to travel on different missions trips. She loved motorcycle riding and her Ford Ranger, was an avid reader, and a fan of all Apple products. She also enjoyed boating, camping, and jetskiing with family and friends.

Paula will be remembered for being a caring person who always thought of others before herself. She was never afraid to speak her mind and express her opinions. One of her favorite quotes is: “With passion, fearlessness, and intelligence, I inspire myself and others to change what we don’t like and embrace what we can’t change.”

In addition to her parents, Paula is survived by her sister Sarah Southwell, her maternal grandmother Peggy Kellogg Nelson of Youngsville, her paternal grandfather William Southwell of Warren, her Aunt Suanne (Fred) Beardsley and children Kirsten and Jared, her Aunt Patricia Mahood and her children Brooke, Brandon, and Tanner, her Aunt Susan (Doug) Justham and their children Jamison, Ben and Noah, her Aunt Jill Stoltz and her children Samantha and Storm.

Paula was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Thomas Nelson on March 29, 2013, and her paternal grandmother Judith Ann Southwell on October 17, 2008.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 3 7 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church on the corner of East and Third Avenue, Warren. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, May 9, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Ewing officiating. A private family burial will follow at Warren County Memorial Park.
