SOFTBALL: Ike loses 3rd straight

UNION CITY – Eisenhower is 2-9 overall after losing its third straight on Saturday, 5-1 in a non-region game at Union City.

Ike took a 1-0 lead in the first on an Ashley Barnett RBI hit before the Lady Bears scored five over the next three innings and shut the door. Eisenhower had seven hits, but couldn’t string enough together.

“We left the bases loaded at least twice,” said Ike coach R.J. Williams.

Barnett was 3-for-4 and Brooke Stanton finished 2-for-3 with a double for the Knights, which host Franklin on Tuesday.

Union City is 4-6.

The Ike combo of Emily McJunkin and Haylie Birt stranded runners and did not allow a run after the third. Neither issued a walk.
