College news

Warren Area High School graduate and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) baseball player Tyler Leichtenberger took the loss in the opening game of a doubleheader with St. John FIsher on Wednesday. Leichtenberger pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven against just two walks.

Golf results

Diana Peck had low gross of 44 in Wednesday Evening Ladies Golf League play at Cable Hollow Golf Course. Bonnie Thorp had second low gross of 48, Sue Ferranto had third low gross of 50, Cindy Paulmier had fourth low gross of 51, Sue Melquist had fifth low gross of 52 and Mary Gayton and Judy Greyber shared sixth low gross of 55.

The teams of Mike McPherson and Rick Nowacki and Dave Andersen and Tom Jones tied at 35 each in the Kim’s Kafe Scratch League this week. Two shots back at 37 was the team of Joe Nelson and Charles P. Irvin.

Joe Nelson had low gross of 33 over nine holes on Thursday in the Conewango Valley Country Club’s Men’s Day. Here are the flight-by-flight leaders:

Jamestown Old-Timers

The Jamestown and Area Old-Timers Baseball Club will kick-off its 2013 50+ baseball season this coming Sunday with a doubleheader at Cene Park in Struthers , Ohio. The Old-Timers team consists of 47-years-and-older players from Southwestern, N.Y., and northeast Pennsylvania. The club is totally non-profit and self-funded. The club raises money each year to help support the Jamestown Jammers Kids Clinic as well as donates hundreds of baseballs to local Little Leagues. Busti and Celoron went to the 11th shooter to break a tie, 525 to 524. Randolph downed Carroll, 337 to 321 in the other match. Celoron’s Dave Anderson and Randolph’s Kim Milford shot the only 50s for the evening. Stephanie Tutmaher was the high lady with 48. High junior was Tyler Chase with 48. High sub junior was Dalton Becker with 47. High vet was Ray Lee with 49. High senior vet was Hod Edgreen with 49. High super senior vet was Gary Sickles with 48.
