Help Relay for Life ‘Paint the County Purple’ to fight cancer

The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life team members will turn Warren County purple on Wednesday, May 1 as a reminder that many people in Warren County are affected by cancer, that the fight to find a cure is not over and that donations are needed to help win this battle.

Two local storefronts -Jarvis Cleaners and Family Video will turn purple until the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Warren County from noon Friday, June 21 through noon, Saturday, June 22 at Betts Park.

In the following weeks, banners announcing the Relay will be placed at the entrances to Warren and purple ribbons will begin appearing on residential doors and local business’ storefronts.

The ACS and Relay for Life are inviting everyone who has been touched by cancer to help “Paint the County Purple”. If you are a cancer survivor, have had a family member, a friend, or co-worker touched by cancer; place a purple bow, ribbon, balloon, or decoration on your door, plant purple flowers in a pot on your porch or in your yard or wear purple clothing. Relay members would like to see purple everywhere they go in Warren County.

Why the color purple? Purple is the color worn by survivors at the Relay Event. It is also the color used to represent hope for a better future for cancer patients. Funds raised by Relay of Life teams will be used by the American Cancer Society to support research for a cure and to provide needed support for local cancer patients.

Like to donate? Purchase a purple bow from a RFL team member, participate in a team fund raising event or donate online to a team member at www.relayforlife.org/pawarren.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Warren County will be held from 12 noon Friday, June 21 through 12 noon, Saturday, June 22 at Betts Park.
