Men to breakfast
A men’s breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at North Warren Presbyterian Church. The breakfast is open to all men of the community, regardless of their faith. Cost is a donation of $3 for breakfast cooked by men from the community. All men are welcome. This will be the last breakfast until September.
The spring meeting of the Hale Cemetery Association will be held on Wednesday May 1 at 7 p.m. at 2971 Fox Hill Road, Russell. All lot owners and families are invited. Call 757-4361 with any questions.
St. Luke Catholic Church, 420 North Main, Youngsville will hold a rummage sale on Thursday May 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday May 3 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday May 4 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday is also $1 bag day. The rummage sale is sponsored by the Altar/Rosary Society.
The Ladies Auxillary to Marshal Larsen VFW Post 314 Clarendon will meet on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. in the Post home, Brown Ave. in Clarendon. Officers for the 2013-2014 year will be installed by past District President Jeanne Reinard.
Hessel Valley Lutheran Church will hold a benefit spaghetti supper for Bob and Sharon Collman from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Bob is a Warren electrician who had a catastrophic health crisis in February and is recovering at Warren Manor.
Warren Art League
The Warren Art League will meet on Thursday May 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Third and East St., basement Karen Heltzer from Moments in Art will be the speaker. She is a professional photographer who will discuss various aspects of digital photography including tips on camera use and photographing your own artwork. She will also discuss the services she provides such as transferring your photos to canvas,graphic design, and photo restoration.
MS support offered
Warren Multiple Sclerosis Support group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in the Slater Room of the Warren Public Library. Participants will share information about the upcoming MS Walk on May 19, 2013 at Betts Park and will have open discussion. Light refreshments will be available, but everyone is asked to bring their own beverage of choice. Anyone affected by MS, their family, friends and anyone interested in learning more about Multiple Sclerosis is invited. There is no charge to attend. The library is handicapped accessible from the rear of the building by parking in the midtown lot. There is an elevator to the third floor. Parking passes will be available at the meeting for the midtown lot, so there is not a fee for parking. First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St, Warren will hold a rummage sale on Friday May 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Warren Garden Club is awarding a $500 scholarship for 2013 to a high school senior, college or graduate student who plans to further their education in horticulture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management and or allied subjects. Applications are available at all county high schools and county libraries or by calling 723-2218. The deadline to submit an application is May 15, 2013.
