One of the Athletes of the Week has been keeping his team in games with the strikeout, the other has been keeping her team in games without it. On Friday, Eisenhower freshman pitcher Casey Vincent, left, struck out 11 batters – walking one – in the Knights’ second win of the year, a 6-2 Region 4 win over Titusville. The freshman has struck out 23 batters in his last two games and pitched two hitless innings to end the Knights’ last win, also over Titusville in extra innings. Youngsville sophomore shortstop Kennedy Cratty was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBI in the Eagles’ 10-9 Region 5 win over Iroquois on Thursday at Youngsville High School. The Eagles are 3-1 in region play to start the year, and Cratty is leading the way with a .708 average (17-for-24) with five RBI out of the leadoff spot. The two underclassmen are the Times Observer Athletes of the Week, sponsored by McDonald’s.
