Baltic trip


A meeting for the Baltic Heritage trip planned for Aug. 17-Sept. 2 will be held at the Allegheny Community Center on Thursday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m. in the craft room. Information concerning flights and other matters will be available. Space is still available on this trip which includes London with one pre-night tour of Buckingham Palace; Brussels, Belgium; Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinke, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia (two days); talin, Estonia; Gadansk, Poland; Oslo, Norway; and back to London. Veteran program

“Improving Care for Veterans Facing Illness and Death” will be presented by Hospice of Warren County from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Warren Public Library. A distinguished panel of experts will discuss special needs in treating veterans and ways to develop collaborative partnerships to better serve veterans. An adjunct to the program will be the presence of the Mobile Vet Center (MVC). This special unit provides counseling for war zone stress injuries to individuals, couples, groups and families. Bereavement counseling services are also offered. The program will be presented free of charge, and the public is encouraged to attend as well as tour the mobile unit. The Mobile Vet Center will be open for touring starting at 12:30 p.m. Continuing education credits are available for professionals in healthcare and related fields. Circle Eight to

dance Saturday

The Circle Eight Square Dance Club will dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the auditorium at Warren State Hospital, North Warren. Caller will be Dave Buys. This will be salad night.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the St. Marys Moose Club. Larry Lewicki of Olean, N.Y., will provide music for all types of dancing. The public is invited. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.

Auction Saturday

The Friends of the Rouse Spring Auction will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Youngsville Fire Hall. The public is invited.

Rummage sale set

A rummage sale will be sponsored by Russell Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary April 26-27 at Russell Fire Hall. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Items will be $1 per bag on Saturday.

Pancakes served

A Pancake Supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Scandia Fire Hall in memory of Pat Ferrie, Harry Nasman and George Agerter. The event will be sponsored by Scandia Volunteer Fire Department and Scandia Covenant Church.

Trash & Treasure Sale Saturday

A Trash & Treasure Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at First Church of God, 1111 Madison Ave., Warren. Proceeds will benefit the Relay for Life team.

Benefit Sunday

A benefit spaghetti dinner for lung cancer patient Manley Carlstrom will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Sugar Grove Fire Hall. The day will include 50-50s, raffles, a door prize, a silent auction, music and baked goods. Cost will be $5 per person.

Class to breakfast

Warren Area High School Class of 1962 will have breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Perkins in Warren. All classmates are welcome.

Win at bridge

Winners of Monday’s duplicate bridge game at the YMCA were Joann Hultquist and Connie Michell, first with 21; Carol Lake and Marge Polito, second with 20; and Hal Conarro and Nan Cashman, third with 18.

Workbee Saturday

Foster Cemetery will have a workbee beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27, weather permitting. All lot owners and interested persons are invited. Rain date will be May 4.
