BOYS TENNIS: Dragons improve to 8-0

CORRY – Warren swept Corry for the second time this season, improving to 8-0 with a 5-0 victory over the Beavers on Monday.

Again, Shane Burns led the way with an easy victory at top singles. This time, Burns bested Alex Sloane, 6-1, 6-0.

Matt Sandberg followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Josh Schrecongost and Nathan Sandberg was a 6-0, 6-0 victor over German exchange student Lizzy Doerffel.

“Our singles players are in a nice groove right now. We are developing points well and finishing with well placed drives and volleys,” said Warren coach Jeff Bartsch.

In top doubles action, the pair of Grayson Foley and Nick Tarpenning continued their strong season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Completing the sweep at second doubles were Ylli Bakalli and Liam Boger who were dominant in a 6-1, 6-0 win.

In exhibition play, the team of Phil Hachula and Bryce Bauer was victorious in doubles action while Conner Clendenen won a 9-7 victory over Doerffel in singles play.

Warren (8-0) returns to the court Wednesday, visiting Titusville.
