WGH volunteers honored

On April 17, Warren General Hospital Auxiliary honored adult hospital volunteers at a complimentary luncheon at the Holiday Inn and awarded pins for the number of hours served during the past year. The event included welcome comments from WGH CEO John Papalia, an invocation by the Rev Marcus Briggs, and a business meeting conducted by auxiliary president Gwenn Scutella.

The program featured Ann McCauley, former psychiatric RN, who did her internship at the Warren State Hospital and who is now a published author of two novels, “Runaway Grandma” and “Mother Love.” McCauley, from nearby Bradford, cited her late start in writing and continued drive to keep educating herself with new college courses, even as she becomes a grandmother. She gave the audience many examples of famous “seniors” who began new careers or continued their life’s dreams into their 70s or 80s, and congratulated and encouraged the volunteers who were still being so active in the community.

In 2012, the 134 adult volunteers gave 15,445.75 hours of service to Warren General Hospital. Every volunteer present was thanked for their hours of service. The following volunteers received award pins from Scutella, marking their milestones at Warren General:
