TRACK & FIELD: Warren sweeps Fort LeBoeuf

WATERFORD – Technically, this is Warren’s third sweep of the season, after sweeping the Harbor Creek Invitational Track Meet last weekend and Franklin at home on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the Dragon boys beat Fort LeBoeuf, 91-45, and Lady Dragons won, 96-49, on windy but otherwise good conditions.

“We were very happy to get out on the track,” said Warren girls coach Mark Sweet. “I don’t know if the times and distances were indicative of how we can perform, but it was a great meet – a good tuneup for the kids to be tested in hefty waters in Hermitage (Saturday at the Hickory Invitational).”

Ellis Beardsley was a four-time winner for the second straight meet, winning the 800, 1600 and part of two relays. Sabrina Anderson won the 100 hurdles – which was a Warren sweep, one of five for the girls, high jump with a state standard of 5-3, and was part of the winning 4X100 relay.

Casey Kulka won the 100, Valerie Latimer the 400 with a district-qualifying time of 1:04.57, Amanda Castagnino the 3200, Brooke Armanini the long jump, and McKenzie Merenick the triple jump.

“Ditto on what he just said,” Warren boys coach Steve Norris said of his team’s warm-up for the Hickory Invitational. “I was totally pleased with the results from everybody.”

Jordan Willetts won the 100 in a sweep of 1-2-3, Austin Jerman won the javelin with his best throw at 154-9, Luke Wortman won the 200 and 400, Mark Davis won the long jump, Justin Wright the high jump, Alec Colosimo the 1600, and Caleb Hultman the 800. Two of three relays took first for Warren.
