BOYS TENNIS: Warren tennis 7-0 on season

FRANKLIN – Warren’s boys tennis team is 7-0 on the 2013 season after a convincing 5-0 victory over Rocky Grove, Wednesday, at Franklin High School.

The Dragons’ region victory was started by top singles player Shane Burns who cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rocky Grove’s Trevor Irwin.

The singles sweep was completed by the Sandberg brothers who each needed just two sets to record wins. Matt Sandberg was a 6-0, 6-1 victor over Henry Gent while sophomore Nathan Sandberg was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Austin Barnett.

The Warren doubles teams were also unbeaten on the day with Grayson Foley and Nick Tarpenning winning 6-0, 6-0 and Liam Boger and Ylli Bakalli winning by that same 6-0, 6-0 count.

In exhibition play, Neil Morrison and Noah Colvin notched an 8-1 doubles win, Phil Hachula and Bryce Bauer won an 8-0 decision and Sean McGuinness and Tristan Boger were 8-0 winners.

“The weather was beautiful and playing was enjoyable,” said coach Jeff Bartsch.
