Spring is in the air so make plans for our spring fundraiser on April 16. We will feature a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for a donation.

National Volunteer Week will be April 21-27 and we will recognize all past and current volunteers who help to make our center what it is today.

The Community Foundation of Warren will have an online fundraising event on May 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please remember your center here in Sheffield and go online at www.warrengives.org and support your center with a donation.

Income tax season is over for another year and the ACC VITA volunteers deserve a big “thank you” from our community for the fine job they did again this year for so many. Let’s all think spring and enjoy summer!

This is a special reminder that the second annual International Appetite for the Arts is being held Saturday, April 20 from 5-9 p.m. at Allegheny Community Center. It features fine food prepared by professional and amateur chefs (online entry forms & rules at www.alleghenycenterforthearts.com website) plus wine tasting, musical entertainment, an art show, and a fantastic silent auction. Tickets are available at the door. You’ll want to hold that date and please bring your appetite with you!

Great overnight and extended trips: Wildwood/Cape May, N.J., bus leaves CRI lot at 6 a.m., May 13-17; Northwestern National Park trip (new itinerary and dates now available), June 5 thru 19; Noah spectacular at Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, June 26 & 27; Baltic heritage trip, Aug. 17-Sept. 2; Boston & Salem, MA, trip, Oct. 15-18; New York City at Christmas, Dec. 10-13. This is a special reminder to all trippers that the ACC Trip Policy is available at the Center.

All non-casino trips leave from the CRI parking lot located on Pennsylvania Avenue West, just over the railroad tracks on the left (along the river), unless otherwise instructed to park elsewhere. Salamanca Casino trips depart from the Big Lots parking lot at the Warren Mall, as always. Not sure, just call 723-3237!

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. M-F with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Mon. & Wed. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather. Hot lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no reservation required. Take-outs available.


The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers April 15-19: ham Monday; vegetable lasagna Tuesday; chili Wednesday, cabbage roll Thursday, chef surprise Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
