The Dubois Central Catholic at Sheffield girls softball doubleheader scheduled for Monday at Sheffield Area High School has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions. No make-up date has been set.

The Franklin at Warren softball game originally scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to a lack of available players on Franklin’s team. No make-up date has been set. Warren will be in action on Saturday, instead hosting Youngsville in a 1 p.m. scrimmage at the Farm Colony.


The Youngsville at Oil City boys and girls track & field meet originally scheduled for Thursday was canceled and will not be made up.


The Northwestern at Youngsville baseball game postponed on Thursday will be made up at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Northwestern High School.

Charity event

The Young Professionals of Warren County will host the 3rd Annual Strikes for Charity event, Saturday, April 20, at Youngsville’s Valley Bowling Center. Over the past two years, the event has raised over $1,300 for local charities. This year’s local charity of choice is the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program of Warren and Forest counties.

Sheffield softball

The Sheffield softball team opened its 2013 season on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Curwensville Golden Tide. Sheffield was defeated 10-0 in five innings in the first game and 15-0 in four innings in the second game. No other details were reported to the Times Observer. Sheffield returns to action Wednesday, hosting Kane.
