Ruth Ann Ramey, 65 of Goreville, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Born in Middleburg, VT on August 14, 1947, she was the daughter of Dewitt C. Dickson and Anna Grant Dickson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nora L. Dickson, and a brother, David C. Dickson.
Ruth Ann is survived by son Timothy P. Ramey of Chicago, IL and his partner, Ana Silva; daughter and soninlaw, Tonya L. Ramey and Dennis M. O’Connor of Marion, IL, and grandsons Cory M. and Jared M.; daughter Tammy A. Ramey of Lincoln, IL; brother and sisterinlaw, Douglas Dickson and Sharon Smith of Newton, MA; sister and brother inlaw, Ellen and Paul Guild of Hill, NH; uncle and aunt, John and Lisa Grant of Furgis, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth Ann graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in 1970 and later received a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1992 from Southern Illinois University. She was employed for the past 20 years by Southern Seven Health Department of Southern Illinois. Ruth Ann enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, a variety of music, working with a diversity of people in problem solving life’s situations, and spending time with her family and friends.
Everyone is welcome to a “Celebration of Love” to honor Ruth Ann, which will be held on March 30, 2013 at 3 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion, IL with Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating.
