Gerta Ana Weaver, 92, of 1100 Route 62, Irvine, Pa., died on Saturday March 23, at 2:05 in the afternoon at the Warren Manor Nursing Home.
Gerta was born on June 21, 1920 in Irvine, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of eight children born to William Walter Toner and Anna Ryf Toner.
Gerta was a graduate of Warren High School and served in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp from 1943 to 1947. She was employed in the Warren area for many years at various jobs including waitressing at The Wagon Wheel and The Forester restaurants. She retired from Quality Market in North Warren in 2001.
Surviving are her children, Darlene Toner Chapman and her husband Parker of Annapolis, Maryland, and Bruce A. Weaver of Irvine, Pa.; three grandchildren, Kristine Chapman Smith, Karen Chapman Frith and Seth Weaver; five greatgrandchildren, Andrew Smith, William Smith, Charles Smith, Tilly Frith and Gabbie Drake; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1995 by her husband of thirtyseven years, Allan John Weaver; her brothers and sisters, Leon Toner, Ernest Toner, Arthur Toner, Albert Toner, Nellie Toner Black, Edith Toner Tobey and Marie Toner Demler.
Gerta loved living alongside the beautiful Allegheny River her whole life, gardening and caring for her family. She truly enjoyed people and will be remembered by many for her beautiful smile and warm personality.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery, Starbrick, Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice as Gerta loved everyone.
