LAURA OLSON

Laura “Louise” Olson, 88, formerly of 12 N. Marion Street, Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, near her daughters’ homes in Bradford County, PA.

Louise was born September 22, 1924 in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Alfred “Brownie” and Laura Mohr Johnson. Louise was a lifelong resident of Warren and was a 1942 graduate of Warren High School. She completed her training at Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY, and was then employed by Warren General Hospital as a Registered Nurse, and later at the Warren State Hospital for many years, from which she retired.

Louise, with her husband, was a lifelong member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was very active, serving as treasurer and as a member of The Methodist Women’s Circle.

Her faith and her family defined who she was. She also enjoyed sewing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by five children David A. Olson, and wife, Miriam, Sheffield, PA, John M. Olson, and wife, Debbie, Winthrop, WA, Ruth L. Olson, Canton, PA, Mary E. Herman, and husband, Alvin, Canton, PA, and Beth C. Kondak, and husband, Kurt, Cherry Grove, PA; one brother, A. Lacy Johnson, Twin Falls, ID; nine grandchildren, Laura Olson Buelow, and husband, Kris, WA, Emily Olson, OR, Rachel Herman Burlbaw, and husband, Matt, MD, Elizabeth Herman, PA, Spencer Kondak, at college, Erin, Luke, Graham and Grace Kondak, all of Cherry Grove, PA; one great grandson, Finn Buelow; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on November 9, 2003, by her husband, David A. Olson, whom she married on June 29, 1948. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, David H. Johnson, Robert R. Johnson, and Wilbur “Booka” Johnson.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, March 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Gerber, pastor, Covenant United Methodist Church, and Rev. Neil Siefert, retired pastor, co officiating.

Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
