Mr. Frank J. Gomola, 69, passed into the next life at 6:30am, Friday, March 22, 2013 in Country Meadows Senior Living Center, Bridgeville, PA, following a brief illness. He was born September 4, 1943 in Sheffield to the late Frank and Catherine Zastawney Gomola.

Frank was a lifelong area resident and worked in the forensic unit at Warren State Hospital where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a former owner/operator of the Sheffield Deli and served in the Navy during the Cuban missile crisis and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Warren American Legion, a life member of Sheffield VFW #8755, and served on their Honor Guard for many years. He hunted, fished, and gardened, but Frank loved to read and play cards, especially cribbage and poker.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Gomola and wife Cathy, Sheffield, Jacob Gomola and wife Jen, Cannonsburg, and Michael Gomola, Rhoda, Spain; a daughter Megan Williams and husband Darcy, Upper Pottsgrove; a sister Mrs. James “Pat” Beers, Sheffield; three grandchildren Justine, Journey, and Michael Gomola; a grandson expected in July; and several loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death on March 10, 2006 by his wife H. Eloise Cranston Gomola, whom he married October 26, 1968 in Sheffield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Reverend Father John R. Neff, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2:004:00 and 7:009:00pm Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the BordenLloyd Funeral Home where a Vigil service will be held at 8:30pm.

Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
